1. Have aspirations that motivate you.

Make sure the results are important to you, and that there is value in achieving them. If you have little interest in the results chances of you putting in the work to make them happen are slim.

2. Write down your aspirations

Writing down makes it real and tangible and ensures that you do not forget and you keep track of your progress.

3. Set Smart targets

  • Specific – your aspirations must be clear and well defined. The results should provide sufficient direction on where you want to go.
  • Measurable – Include precise measures of success such as amounts and date of accomplishment.
  • Attainable – Make sure it is possible to achieve targets that you set. Not too hard or too easy to demotivate you. Set realistic but challenging targets.
  • Relevant – Your aspirations should be relevant to the direction you want your life to take. This will achieve focus and consistency.
  • Time bound – Your dreams must have a deadline. It increases a sense of urgency and lets you know when to celebrate success.

4. Have an action plan

Plan all the steps that are needed along the way. As you achieve each you realize that you are making progress towards the ultimate success.

5. Stick with it

Have grit and make regular time to review your progress.
